In response to an editorial on women serving in the US military who are sexually assaulted by their commanding officers and fellow soldiers, Gayle Rosenthal of Austin submits this letter to the editor:
Men can be soldiers, and men can be gentlemen, but maybe it’s just too hard to be both at the same time. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider the wisdom of women serving in combat zones.
It is really quite impressive how many offensive assumptions she was able to squeeze into those two short sentences.
