Good Cover

A good cover song, IMO, brings something new to the song or highlights something the original didn’t. I have wanted to do a post on cover songs I think are really good but that will wait for later when I have a bit more time. Today I’ll just share one I came across recently.
Queen Latifah, whose transition from rapper to jazzy R&B singer was both surprising and surprisingly successful, does a nice take on I’m Not In Love (originally performed by 10cc). The secret to her success apparently is her restraint. Reviews I’ve read praise her for not “overreaching” which I suppose means she has a good but not great voice and she works with what she’s got rather than pushing her own envelope.
